Organise learning journeys

Sequence Activity Instances into an ordered Learning Journey with visibility, prerequisites, and completion rules.

Last reviewed: 13 August 2026

Before you begin

A Learning Journey organises Activity Instances into an ordered path for students in a Course Offering. Your institution must enable Practical Learning, and you need teaching authority on the offering (or institution administration access). Create and publish Activity Instances on the Activities tab before placing them in a journey.

Steps

  1. Open Institution Workspace and go to the Course Offering.
  2. Open the Journey section.
  3. Choose New Learning Journey.
  4. Enter a title, choose student visibility (whole offering or a Class Group), and set the journey completion rule.
  5. Save the draft, then add steps from available Activity Instances in the order students should follow.
  6. For each step after the first, choose a prerequisite (none, previous step, or a specific earlier step) and a completion rule.
  7. When the sequence is ready, choose Publish.
  8. Use Return to draft or Archive when the journey should no longer be visible to students.

Students with an active Academic Enrolment see published Learning Journeys for their offering or Class Group. Steps stay locked until prerequisites are met, and locked steps may still be listed when “Show when locked” is enabled.
